The score system used in the game is based on the number of seconds remaining after you have won a game multiplied by the safety percentage. With the Beginners level this score is reduced by half because only half the number of aircraft landings are required to win. Similarly with the Trainee level the score is reduced by one quarter. This means to achieve as high a score as possible you must land all aircraft quickly whilst maintaining a perfect safety level.
These Guidelines for a high score will help you towards the very best scores on each level of the game. Achieving them requires a high level of understanding of the principals of the game and plenty of practice. Here are some tips for maximising your scores.
1. Never leave aircraft on the stacks, bring them in immediately and increase their speed to maximium.
2. Considering wind direction, direct them straight to the glide slope near to the airport, so as to lock onto the slope as close as possible to the airport. This is harder but does save time.
3. Learn the turn ratios for all aircraft (in normal and wide turns emergency mode).
4. Sometimes (not always) when you have 2 planes so close to the runway it is wiser to land the slower first because a faster plane can circle and resume landing so much faster than a slower plane.
5. It's important to reduce the landing times between aircraft. When you have one plane almost stopped and ready to clear the runway it's a good idea to have the next touching down.
6. You will never always do a good time after landing all aircraft. It helps if the game gives you high speed aircraft as the last planes to land.

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL - Emergency types (higher levels) |
Emergency |
Description |
1. Losing altitude |
A plane will declare it is slowly losing altitude. You will be unable to raise its altitude. |
2. Wide turns only |
A plane will only be able to make slow turns, allow plenty of space to turn your aircraft. Faster aircraft require very wide turns |
3. Losing fuel |
While the plane has fuel you still have full control. Once the plane has lost all fuel, it will begin to quickly lose altitude. |
4. No lock above 2000ft |
You will have to guide this plane in manually until it is 2000ft or lower, and then try to establish the beam. |
5. Stopped on runway |
A plane has touched down but cannot leave the runway. Any planes on approach behind will have to go round or risk a collision. |
